Watching the runners taking part in the London Marathon was so inspiring – what an amazing achievement to be able to run 26.2 miles and be part of such a world-famous sporting event. But however impressive their efforts were, to most of us the thought of running a mile, let alone a marathon, is a daunting task. But be positive! Every runner has to start somewhere! If you need some extra motivation to lace up your trainers maybe signing up for a fun challenge could be just what you need. And Bubble Rush, a family-friendly 5k featuring masses of coloured bubbles, could be the perfect way to start you on your journey!
The 5k distance is a great distance to aim for – and there are lots of apps and online training plans like Couch to 5k to help to make the target achievable: At Bubble Rush events the course is usually a two lap circuit, and with four bubble stations on each lap pumping out colourful foam it’s easy to get distracted and forget that you’re covering the distance! We never time any of our events, so you won’t be under pressure to beat the clock and record a Personal Best: All that matters is that our runners have fun taking part in our foamy 5k.
You don’t have to invest in fancy running gear. At Bubble Rush colour is the only dress code! You get a t-shirt to wear on the day and you can accessorise your outfit or team kit with a tutu, shower cap or sun-visor, the brighter the better!
If you’re already a runner but you want to inspire your family to discover the joy of running Bubble Rush is one way of introducing them to your world! Start them young – the courses are pushchair friendly, and there’s no maximum age limit either! The oldest runner to take part in this year’s London Marathon was 85 years old. The Bubble Rush course has been completed by many ‘silver’ bubblers, with the oldest (so far) being 92 years of age!
The London Marathon is also a very important date in the fundraising calendar, with so many of the 40,000 runners motivated to take on the challenge to raise funds for their chosen good cause. Likewise, every Bubble Rush is organised in partnership with a local charity, so whatever your motivation to take part you can make also every bubbly step benefit a good cause along the way.
So, whether you’re a newbie runner looking for a first race, you’re looking for a way to get your family outside and active, or you just want to do something different to support your favourite charity; signing up for a Bubble Rush is a very positive first step. Don’t just take our word for it! Runner’s World magazine said: “Bubble Rush is a brilliant way of enticing children, lazy relatives and nervous newbies to exercise and have some fun at the same time.”
And who knows, it could be the start of a journey towards your first Marathon!
